Writing Prompt: Most Shocking Book Ending

So I feel completely lame admitting this, but the ending of The Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins is one I didn’t see coming. In hindsight there was foreshadowing, but either because I took so long to read the final book, or I wasn’t totally invested in it, in the end I didn’t connect the dots.

*hangs head in shame*

On top of that, it kinda irritated me, because…

…that was the entire fecking reason for the gods-damned books! Her mother ducking sister! Then she goes and gets murdered.

Katniss: “I’m going to throw myself into the jaws of danger and risk my life to keep you from dying.”

Prim: *runs off and joins an army and gets blown up*

Katniss: “Damn it.”

LAME.

On that note, it also felt more like a plot device to make sure Katniss ended up with Peeta instead of Gale.

But what do I know? Suzanne Collins is a world-renowned author, and I’m just me. *Proceeds to murder various siblings of my characters* Am I doing this right?

Author: lotwordsmiths

Hello, there! I'm Toni, and I've been writing and reading primarily fantasy stories most of my life. What really set me on the path to be a writer was my 6th grade English teacher, Mrs. Thomas, who told me she could see me as an author some day. I made Legends of the Wordsmiths to share my stories, and hopefully, (someday), the stories of others, too.!
